The decline of Cinema attendance
The attendance in recent times has dramatically declined in cinemas, this is due to a varied amount reasons. This is due to things such as the recent recession, meaning that people are more reluctant to spend money on the luxuries of going to the cinema as they have less disposable income. It could even be due to the lack of good quality films that have recently been released, however i think that it is down to the recent advances in technology meaning that people can access these new movies in different ways.
Their has been recent attempts to boost cinema attendance in recent times resulting in a large increase in the amount of people watching films infront of the big screen e.g. IMAX, 3D etc Despite this boost, more and more people are finding different sources to watch these films. One way watching movies is simply by watching them on the internet, people can download newly released films by file sharing, this means that film companies lose money as a result of this. You can also watch these movies in blue ray or HD meaning you have a better quality, home cinema systems means that the sound is louder, feels more realistic and is a better quality.
Another reason for the decline of cinema attendance would be that things like i tunes which means that you can buy these movies online legally through itunes. However this is not a very good way of watching the film because the quality is poor and many times you have to wait for it to buffer meaning your filming expeirience isn't great. 3DTVs are a great way of boosting the way you watch films at home, this would mean that cinema attendance would decline as people would be choosing to stay at home and use alternative methods such as this, however there is not a wide range of DVD'S that have 3D on them, and 3DTV'S are very expensive. So these 3DTV's will not have a greatly significant impact on the decline of cinema attendance.
In conlusuion the decline of cinema attendance has been caused by the recent recession in which peopleare finding alternative ways of watching films for less money or even illegaly for free. Another reason could be the the advances in technology meaning watching films at home are better in quality such as blueray and home cinema systems.
